Detailing your Rolls-Royce Ghost

A Ghost is detailed the way it was built, slowly and by hand. The lambswool mats are vacuumed with a soft brush, the Starlight headliner is brushed dry and the coach door seals are cleaned so the doors shut without a sound. Outside, the hand-painted coachline and any two-tone break are taped before polishing, the retracting mascot is cleaned around rather than sprayed and the self-levelling wheel centres are wiped by hand.

What we watch for on a Ghost

• Lambswool floor mats are vacuumed with a soft brush attachment and spot cleaned with minimal moisture; an extractor or a stiff brush would ruin the pile
• The Starlight headliner is a leather headliner with fibre-optic lights; we brush it dry and spot clean with a barely damp cloth, never a spray
• Coach doors have long seals and exposed hinge areas that collect grit; we clean the jambs and seals so the doors close silently
• The Spirit of Ecstasy retracts into the grille and must not be forced; we clean around it with a soft brush and never pressure wash it directly
• Two-tone paint and the hand-painted coachline are taped before polishing so the pad never touches the line, and the wheel centres that stay upright are wiped by hand

Luxury cars: soft paint, delicate trim

Premium interiors use more leather, open-pore wood and gloss trim, and premium paint is often softer. We use gentler chemistry, soft microfibre and slower machine passes so nothing is marred.
